Caught in a pitfall trap that was out for 6 nights
Not sure if this Alexander Beetle as normally only found in Canterbury.
I mightve stepped on it by accident ;-; it's legs were moving strangely. I located it to a safe space after taking photos
Under a log in native forest.
Common in beech forest.
The common species in the forest. I've seen M. meritus at Riverton too in gardens.
Native broadleaf/kanuka scrub forest.
Inat suggestion. I have no idea.
