Palicourea correae is in the Madder (Rubiaceae) family. It is in the same genus as the more common Hot Lips (Palicourea elata). The flower is suspended by a long pendulous throat. The most distinctive feature of this plant are its red, glabrous bracts. The small pure white, star-shaped flowers emerge from the center of the red bracts.
