Protonym Ecdyurus tobiironis Takahashi 1929, later as Ecdyonurus tobiironis (Takahashi 1929) as per many authors. Also said to be recombined as Heptagenia tobiironis (Takahashi 1929) in Bajkova 1972. Later recombined as Atopopus (Thamnodontus) tobiironis (Takahashi 1929) in Kluge 2004. Thamnodontus as valid genus in Webb & McCafferty 2008 (without clarity of species composition except "the three included species cannot be confidently placed in any other genus"). Later Thamnodontus treaded again as subgenus or synonym of Ecdyonurus as implicit with treatment of type species of "Thamnodontus" aurarius as e.g. Kluge 2022, which lists as E. (Thamnodontus) aurarius Kluge 1983, therefore Thamnodontus not as a valid genus
