Weekly statistics between August 16, 2020 and August 22, 2020
The biodiversity of the Anacostia project broke the 100,000 observations threshold this week! Thanks to everyone for their contributions!
228 observers made 1263 observations between Sunday, August 16 to Saturday, August 22. Among the top five observers, @jmgconsult observed 164 examples of life in the Anacostia watershed; @ronwertz contributed 131; @carrieseltzer contributed 105; @stephen220 contributed 44; and @dtread1 contributed 36. Rounding out the top 10, @mstrecker contributed 33; @bioball contributed 31; @epic2112 contributed 27; @wilpersm contributed 19; and @lhaller contributed 16. 108 people contributed one observation, 36 people contributed two observations, and 19 people contributed 3 observations. Insects were the main species observations this week (403 observations), followed by Plants (366 observations). Thanks to continuing rain, Fungi (170 observations) stayed in third place. Animalia has the fewest observations (4).
A few highlights of observations are provided below, to celebrate the wide variety of life found in the Anacostia watershed. All observations are welcome, every contribution helps document the magnificent diversity of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed observations this week!
