I have always been an avid naturalist and I am particularly interested in animal and plant adaptations. I grew up in the Northeast U.S. and started my interest mostly in the Adirondack region, but I have lived near Seattle since 1988. Professionally, I study molecular evolution and I am a Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Genome Sciences. I am developing quantitative modeling of iNaturalist observations, some links below. I have also started a project "Serpentine Plants of the Western United States", which you are welcome to join and "trust" so that obscured coordinates are available to me (they will never be released publicly).
