Aloe: Flower tubes more globular at base. Flower tubes shorter. Flower tubes usually clustered closer together
Kniphofia: Each flower tube has individual, superior clasping bracts (dry). Flower tubes longer and usually downward hanging. Racemose inflorescence more elongated

Leaves deeply keeled. Individual flower tubes not as clustered as other Kniphofia's, spaced apart. In open grassland midslope, near the base of prominent cliff.
