Poor approx half-metre snake. Though long-dead it was peeled off the road surface and placed on verge to save scavengers from suffering the same fate.

Unfortunate little snake, ca 400mm long, repeatedly driven over on dip in the road crossing a culvert with dense riverine forest in parkland on either side. Flicked off road surface with boot onto verge to save scavengers. Probably 2 days too late ...

Snake caught by Pied Starling at Rietvlei
One of two snake species observed being predated by Pied Starlings at Rietvlei.
Observed by Gene (http://www.ispotnature.org/user/43638) - who asked me to post these because of his 3G slowness.... (not too sure whether it is his 3G or iSpot's present clunkiness?)

Small thread snake moving about in dry river bed during the hottest part of the day.

It was only when I reviewed the photos that I realised it might be a snake that was involved here, though the bird's behaviour should have tipped me. (Scales visible in the last photo?)
