On Vaccinium parvifolium aka red huckleberry. Apparently not a rust (see comment from Mr. Crawford) - witches broom. - likely not Pucciniastrum. Unknown ID

TentativeID; abnormal growth on Vaccinium; alternatively may be caused by a virus.

I have been trying to ID this off-and-on since I saw it with no luck. Succulent, perched 3 ft off the ground in a huckleberry in a wet area. Roots (or dead appendages?) hanging in the air below.

Molt or mass die off?
