Feeding on California Buttercup, alongside several beetles.
From pic 5: the bee was suddenly jumped by another bee (food fight? mating attempt?) who quickly left. There were at least 20 juicy looking buttercups available to feed on (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/72368226).

This was the only completely-dead M. enigmaticus plant I saw. It is surrounded by gopher holes and mounds. Although it is highly likely the gopher killed the plant by eating its roots, the plant was still solidly attached to the ground. Tugging on the stem did not budge its attachment to the ground.
