Female attracted to light, 20.xi.2018. Body length: 12.5 mm (= 250/20 mm). Wing length: 15.0 mm (= 300/20 mm). HEAD: Antenna about 2 mm long, 13 segmented; two basal segments yellow, flagellum dark brown. Segments length: pedicellum: 4.5/40 mm. 1st flagellomere: 11/40 mm. 2nd flagellomere: 8/40 mm. 2nd flagellar segment more than half as long as 1st. Antennae with whorls of long hairs. Palp with 5 segments, the basal one not visible and the last much longer than the previous three together. Ocelli absent. Eyes close ventrally, separated by 0.2 width of rostrum below head. THORAX: Prescutum with four longitudinal dark stripes on a pale brown background, two in the middle and one at each side; the lateral ones pale brown in the middle. Anterior part of the two medial prescutal stripes invaginated by the ground colour of the thorax. Mesonatal suture complete. Halteres without a basal appendix. Sternopleura with a continuous, strongly defined, broad, blackish stripe extending across the pleurae from the neck to a point below root of wing. LEGS: Legs orange with the apical end of femora dark. Tibiae spurred. WINGS: Squama bearing a cluster of small dark bristles. Sc vein ending in R vein (with a narrow branch ending in C), beyond from where the vein Rs arises. Rs vein relatively long. R2 vein reaching the costal vein. Crossvein r-m with the apical section directed towards wingtip (not towards base). Cell 4 (= cell m1, between veins M1 and M2) petiolate; narrowed before the wing margin, bell-shaped. Discal cell present. Cu vein straight but after m-cu it falls at an angle to the back. M3 arises from M4. Two well-sclerotized anal veins reaching the wing margin. A2 vein long and slightly curved at the apex. Wings without dark or pale longitudinal bands, membrane weakly greyish mottled with white spots; a white round spot towards the middle of the wing, in the posterior (=second) basal cell, and another transverse white spot in the basal third and posterior half of the wing, occupying the ulnar and anal cells and reaching the wing margin just behind the apex of A2. Membrane without macrotricha. ABDOMEN: Abdomen dark brown, with the middle of segments T1 to T3 yellow. Ovopositor well developed, elongated. Sternal valves extended at most to one third length of cerci. Tergite 10 short, with lower margin no more than half length of cerci. Sternite 8 shiny, only dusted near base; quite rounded in section; with cavity either side of keel reaching far back, almost to dust zone. Dorsal margin of valves black. REMARKS: Determination following Carles-Tolrá in Barrientos 2004 to family level; Pierre 1924 and Coe et al. 1950 for species level. Stubbs & Kramer 2016 for subgenus and species. In order to rule out other species of the subgenus, De Jong 1994, Theowald, Dufour & Oosterbroek 1982, Peeters & Oosterbroek 2016a and Dufour 1991 was also consulted. T. haenni and T subsignata have been discarded for being typical of high mountains and for discrepancies in the shape of the oviscapt. Male attracted to light, collected, 29.viii.2017. Wing length 11.3 mm (= 226/20) ; body length (except rostrum and up to T8) 9.65 mm (= 193/20). HEAD: Last segment of palpus whip-shaped, longer than the previous three together. Space between the eyes, below, of similar size to the space between the eyes above. Antennae of 13 cylindrical segments (the last very small), whorled. First two segments of antenna (scape and pedicel) light yellow, first segment of flagellum mid brown and the rest of the flagellum dark brown, especially at the base of each segment. THORAX: Prescutum matt with four distinct dark brown stripes on a yellowish brown background. WING: Sc vein ending in R vein. R2 interrupted and not reaching the edge of the wing. Cu vein straight, angled at end of lower basal cell. Wing membrane unicoloured, except the yellowish costal cell, the black stigmatic spot and the white lunula which is very small. Squama bare. LEGS: Legs yellowish, with dark spots on tips of femora and tibiae and black tarsi. ABDOMEN: Abdomen with yellowish background color, T2 to T6 segments stained grey, each of these tergites with a yellow angled pattern pointing backwards. 9th sternite smooth in the middle. Outer disistylus (OD) with a pointed tip. 8th sternite with a deep incision in the middle. 9th tergite posterior margin with three spiny protuberances. REMARKS: Determination to subgenus level following Stubbs & Kramer 2016; to species level Pierre 1924 (as T.microstigma); Coe et al 1950 and Theowald 1978.
