Recorded flying over houses at 7:20pm at night, so did not get a visual. At a guess, I believe it was flying at the height of the tree canopy. It did not stop. I got my torch out but I was too late to see it!
Consulted with some bird experts on the call, and they are thinking possibly nankeen night heron.
Please note, as far as I've seen there are no records of this species on the coast (correct me if wrong)
