Verified. Flushed adult from nest in Lablab bean plants in my garden. Noticed this same bird agitated earlier in week when I was picking tomatoes nearby, suspected a nest at that time.
Update 6/18/2021. Three chicks hatched, but all were taken by a black rat. The last chick was taken on 6/17, after @acurtis heard the parents furiously alarm-calling. The nest was left intact and was constructed using grasses, leaves, a Subway straw plastic sleeve, and a hand-written note, with a single word 'verbal' penciled. The nest was located in my veggie garden, along a fence route regularly traversed by black rats to access tomatoes, etc. Eliminated other, larger predators from consideration, as the nest itself was undamaged and never shifted out of place. Moving empty nest to a more remote location in the canyon. Never did photograph the chicks, as I didn't want to disturb them and the parents.
