Tough to get a picture while looking up... you can notice the wing bar and the eye ring. I got a glimpse of the red patch on the head but couldn't capture the photo.
An antic bird that was singing an extended song as it hopped about this treetop.
The angle of the sun was very low (it had just struck the treetops), giving the images a strong yellow cast.
Found a few of these guys. They never landed with their wings stretched out so these were the best pictures I got of them.
This tropical species strays to border states. 2015 is an invasion year.
I'm not sure why iNAT doesn't find Boisduval's Yellow, because that's what comes up when I type in the scientific name. So the list of names is not entirely reflexive.
