I didn’t think it would hurt when I touched it!! Ouch! It was really cool to see though. This was at the highest point of the Park and I didn’t see it anywhere else. I wonder if the altitude had something to do with it? The color was a light purple and it was almost as tall as me. I did see anymore around it which I thought was interesting.

Habitat: Edge of secondary hardwood forest that developed between what were formerly two agriculatural fields. One of these was developed in the early 1970's and the other field was converted to a housing development in 2019. Canopy dominated by a mixture of native and introduced species. The shrub layer dominated by Multiflora Rose (Rosa multiflora). Other common shrubs are Border Privet (Ligustrum obtusifolium), Japanese Barberry (Berberis thunbergii), and Spicebush (Lindera benzoin).
