First bee fly of the season ... and one I've never seen before. Photo 3 is the best I have of the wings.

I recall there was some discussion about Balana not having stripes at some point? I can't remember, I could easily be wrong as the discussion may have been associated with another genus; I can't find the discussion.
It does have very Ligyra look about it, but the wing venation is different.
I found this insect on our lawn tonight. It is very cold here and it was just sitting there on the lawn.
Approx 1.5cm long . There is a few of the getting around atm . Caught and released
