Found on a trail through acidic cove forest, less than 100 feet from the upper Tuckasegee River. Was entwined with two smaller, similar snakes until I approached.
Dozens of "toe biters" present and foraging on a Baja California Tree Frog body in Borrego Palm Canyon First Grove waterfall pond. No water was flowing during current drought conditions. Per Monroe & Monroe, this is the only species of Abedus present in California.
