המועדפים של kburke

Leaves are sessile. Leaf tips too acute for Polygonatum. (Also, if this were a fertile individual, the stem would be branched, which is never the case for Polygonatum or Maianthemum.) Leaves lack the 3 prominent veins as in Maianthemum (see underside of leaf photo for the many, equally prominent veins). Underside of leaf is glaucous, which is different from the other Uvularia species. Last photo shows a different individual. @johnnybirder and @kburke, I'm working on this!

Stinkhorn - We have mulch everywhere on our school campus trees and gardens and we have seen this fungus pop up everywhere after rain all fall and into the winter. We smell it before we see it. These pics are of the "egg" sac, the egg sac cut open, the stalk beginning to grow then the mature fungus stalk which is about 11 cm tall.

This was part of a deer fence experiment. The lilies occur all over in the wild, but they usually don't get more than 1 or 2 leaves on them and so don't bloom. Because this one was protected from deer for several years, it did.
