Oh the ground at a gas station, alive flapping a bit. Was not there in the morning
2 bats mating (?) in the road and I very carefully moved them to the curb so they would not get run over.
increíble espectáculo de la llegada masiva de la "mariposa blanca" a El Ejido El Águila, Cacahoatán, en la zona de influencia de la Reserva de la Biosfera Volcán Tacana
This Bat was huge and flying around at 10:30AM this morning near coordinates: 37.0689958,-119.6528761
We do not think it is a Vesper. A local biologist thought hoary bat.
I could never figure out the prey this kite was carrying. Looks like some pine straw is in its grip with the prey.
Daytime resting spot in a landscape planted Bismark Palm, Bismarkia nobilis.
My friend sent me this photo. Not sure if this is normal to see in Vancouver?
Onboard Viking Octantis cruise ship. Originally landed on my back while walking back deck after dinner!

Please read the comments as to why the ID was changed to Seminole. Very informative.
Video shows it is certainly a bat but frames are a little fuzzy. Interesting creature to catch on a trail cam
Waning moon, clouds 8/8, 18-deg, wing 6kmph. Caught 131 of 67 moths, 4 Trichoptera, 7 Coleoptera, etc.
Observed in the Tribute in Light memorial while conducting a migration survey. Shows a distinct collar and pale body coloration
Silvery wash on back plus black face seem to point toward Silver-haired Bat over Hoary Bat, etc.
Albino Mexican Free-tailed bat. Two were observed but only this one was clearly visible. Roosting in expansion joints under the Yolo Causeway (Highway 80)
Has been roosting in the same area for several days. It appears there may have been another one nearby as we heard some calls that seemed to be coming from another spot near this one. This bat's location is known to Zoo Miami conservation and they are working on trying to relocate it or putting a bat house nearby to avoid any interactions with humans. I shot this photo with a zoom lens and didn't get too close.
Great emergence this evening! Relatively early / bright relative to sunset, and some streams of bats spiraled up over the field instead of directly heading away over the lake.
I cut down a dead pine tree, killed by pine beetles. While limbing the downed tree, I noticed very large chunks of the bark were completely loose and peeling off. I discovered 8 silver hair bats underneath the bark. The bats were unharmed. I covered them back up and put 2 cut-up apples near them. I will be hanging up bat houses later this week. My property is right on a pond/wetland and I definitely want them around for mosquito control.
This is the second morning I have seen many crows waiting outside the bat houses for one to emerge. This morning in particular I actually saw a crow catch the bat with its talons midair and take the prey item atop the bat houses. Previous mornings there has been a Red-tailed Hawk and Mississippi Kite in the area as well, the hawk was also looking for bats and there’s an occasional mockingbird dive bombing them.
Seen on a field trip hosted by Connect-to-Protect at Trinity Pineland, an EEL preserve (Environmentally Endangered Lands). Connect-to-Protect is a program run by Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and offers a free pine rockland plant starter kit to local homeowners, including several plants to help create habitat for our native pollinators and other critters that rely on these plants. Mom with two babies found on a old palm leaf that fell out of the palm. I placed the leaf off the ground in the shade next to some palm trees so hopefully she could climb up. They were gone the next day so hopefully they did.
Surprised to see this bat mid-morning at Sausal Pond. Looked to be catching insects and dipping into the pond for a drink.
Wow! This sparrow has a deformed upper beak. Wonder what its prospects are...
In a heat wave we have had a great number of flying foxes come to the river. And they have been drinking during the day.
