No smell when crushed, growing on wet edge of wetland / slow moving creek. Could be another iris but this seems most likely given size, seeds, habitat

Initially thought this was an odd Libocedrus based on location / habitat but am now aware various exotic trees were previously planted here. Now thinking it's an exotic cypress species

Not great photos unfortunately. Most similar to O. paniculata (seen nearby) but is a somewhat odd specimen. Leaves not really crenulate - looks almost like it has some O. arborea in it

Near the tunnel. Removed flowers to stop / reduce seed set this year. Presumably spread deliberately by misguided folks or on machinery

Well this is an odd thing to find up the head of the Rakitata…
Recognised based on my recent trip to Patagonia and confirmed as best as possible (considering this find makes my head spin) based on my Patagonian flora book.
There are no native beech in this part of the valley.
Of course they must be planted, but why???
We left them alive (and to confirm ID rather than commit a botanical crime), but they appear to be spreading through the grassland and will be controlled by contractors heading in to control lupin (unless some information comes to light that suggests otherwise).
Funny the things people have spread to the backcountry eh??

Peduncularis? Not sure I’ve seen this before. In coastal marsh with only minor saline influence
