There's some huge colonies of Fleshy Tree Orchids in the Lower Tuku but this is only the second time I've seen them in this area & both times have been on windfalls - this is also the first time I've seen them on Matipo, all the others I've seen are on Tarahinau except for a few on a big old Pouteretere

There's at least 3 or 4 species of Leaf-vein Slug in the bush of SW Chatham Island, I haven't seen this one before though

I've had my eye on this patch of small looking Corybas leaves for a few years & 2 days ago saw some out in flower for the first time - they're not Corybas sulcatus but that's as far as I can get - maybe C. rivularis? They're growing close to the Tuku River & probably get flooded regularly

This is maybe the same young Fur Seal as the year before - identified at the time as an Antarctic by Marie-Ann Lea who is very familiar with them from a lifetime studying seals

This covers the slips on the slopes of Mount Gallery, they're clearly visible on Google Earth - its really strange walking through them, it feels like you're walking through frost

I need to find the photos but the following year we saw a slightly older fur seal that was identified as an Antarctic Fur Seal by Marie-Ann Lea. I found this that I'd photographed the year befoe & I'm pretty sure its the same animal but I'm not sure how to seperate Antarctic & Subantarctic Fur Seal pups - its clearly not a New Zealand Fur Seal at least

Corybas trilobis is the only Spider Orchid listed for Antipodes Island but I guess its probably not as simple as that!

This was growing underground on the lid of an access hatch into a White-chinned Petrel burrow. At the time there were no fungi listed for Antipodes Island other than an ergot so I was trying to get photos of everything I saw
