I'm happy that we in central Arizona are on the receiving end of good rains, but I'm even happier that we're only getting the left-overs of drought-plagued California. At least we have one pretty good year under way. May it continue, even if it should interfere with a very busy field season for the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy Field Institute.

Steve - Glad to hear this. I'm wondering, will this rainfall be likely to produce an exceptional wildflower year in central Arizona?
These have been good germinating rains, John. Plenty of seedlings, though only a few species so far. I've only seen one lupine seedling and no poppy yet. If we get a bit of follow-up rain through February and March, it bodes well.
Thanks. I'll be in Tuscon again in a few weeks. I plan to repeat some hikes I did in January, just to see what has changed.
