I was with some other birders, and we agreed that this was a Couch's Kingbird by the voice. My recording has a lot of background noise, there were also about a hundred black-bellied whistling ducks at this lake that can be heard.
A cluster of butterflies. There were several clusters like this along this road.
For the past week I have this bird regularly around 10pm, with about 5 to 10 calls at a time. The calls are typically separated anywhere from 10 seconds to 90 seconds, probably averaging 40 second intervals. I have not heard this bird voice a series of notes, it is always one at a time.
